Can. 867 §1. Parents are obliged to take care that infants are baptized in the first few weeks; as soon as possible after the birth or even before it, they are to go to the pastor to request the sacrament for their child and to be prepared properly for it.
Parents of children/infants scheduled for baptism at Sacred Heart Parish are required to attend one class session in preparation for the sacrament.
The class is conducted on one Friday evening each month. Individuals requiring an alternative scheduling accommodation should inform the office as soon as possible to avoid delaying reception of the sacrament.
Parents are expected to understand the gravity of the commitment to raise their child in the Catholic faith, and the solemn obligation of participating in the sacramental life of the Church for the sake of the baptized.
Per Canon Law, Sacred Heart reserves the right to refuse baptism to anyone who it is reasonably determined will not be raised in the Catholic faith.
