Canonized: May 21, 1925
Claim to Fame: Jesuit priest and pivotal defender of the faith in Northern Europe at the height of the Protestant Reformation;  Credited with restoring the Catholic Church in Germany; Numerous educational insitutions are named for him, given his role in establishing schools of Jesuit education throughout Europe.
